Community First Aid Course

The Community First Aid course is designed to train members of the public that require basic first aid skills. This course will provide first aid skills necessary to manage a patient that is not breathing normally, is unconscious or is bleeding prior to the arrival of the emergency services. A Community First Aid course could be for any persons wishing to gain basic skills and understanding of first aid assistance. This could be helpful for parents, carers or family members in their own home environment. The course is delivered in just 4 contact hours.

Life Threatening Conditions

Severe Bleeding Shock Management

COURSE SPECIFICATION:

Intended Participant: Workplace appointed persons
Max Student Instructor Ratio: 12:1
Course Duration: 4 Hours
Assessment: Continuous by instructor
Certificate Expiry: 3 years from date of completion

Hands-on Skill Practice

Students will practice the skills in small groups and will apply these skills in scenario sessions during the course.

Course Duration

4 hoursRetraining time: Currently retraining for this course is to retake the full course after 3 years.

 

Assessment

Students are assessed throughout the course by instructor observation of the essential skills. There is no formal summative assessment for this course.
